چکیده

There is a tremendous increase in plastic waste that negatively impacts the environment due to various industrial activities. Furthermore, has non-biodegradable properties make it hard reduce its accumulation around globe. Hence, this study aims investigate possibility of incorporating Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) as partial replacement material sand improve thermal insulation cement brick by looking at findings low conductivity value. The uses PET bottle been cut into small flakes and grind using granulator machine produce granules whose size not more than 5 mm, similar size. This was added other raw materials, i.e., sand. percentages vary from 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% weight. produced two types samples, control brick. All samples undergo laboratory works involving geotechnical gradation, physical, mechanical, testing. Based on results obtained, optimum proportion bricks making 5% having lowest value 0.581 W/mK meeting standard requirements 3.90 MPa > 3.45 (ASTM C129-11 for compressive strength), 2,146 kg/m3 2,000 normal weight non-loadbearing brick). Thus, can be potential bricks. Its enhance existing reduces consumption, solves problems, promotes better environmentally-friendly construction industry.

Thermal-insulation performance of low density polyethylene (LDPE) foams: Comparison between two radiation thermal conductivity models

The loss of energy especially in industrial and residential buildings is one of the main reasons of increased energy consumption. Improving the thermal insulation properties of materials is a fundamental method for reducing the energy losses. Polymeric foams are introduced as materials with excellent thermal insulation properties for this purpose. In the present study, a deep theoretical invest...

Utilization of waste glass as sand replacement in cement mortar

In this study, alkali silica reaction (ASR) expansion and strength characteristics of mortar containing waste glasses are analyzed in terms of waste glass content and glass color. Three different colors of waste glasses (white, green and brown) are replaced with sand at ratios of 10%, 30% and 100% by weight. The mixtures used in this study did not show a considerable ASR expansion. All batches ...
